Fibromyalgia is a rheumatic condition characterised by muscular or musculoskeletal pain with stiffness and localised tenderness at specific points on the body.
One of the main theories with Fibromyalgia is that people with this condition have developed changes in the central nervous system. These processes cause messages that are carried to the brain to malfunction because of those chemical changes.. Information constantly travels around our nervous systems letting our brains know of any problems or pain that we feel.
Cognitive and memory problems (sometimes called “fibro fog”)
Irritable bowel syndrome.
Painful menstrual periods.
Numbness or tingling of hands and feet.
Restless legs syndrome.
Part of Fibromyalgia of course can be contributed to bad sleeping patterns. It is unclear whether this is a cause or a symptom. However, solution Focused therapy tackles sleep from the first time you come to see me. I‘ll give you an MP3 guided sleep download to listen to at night, so you should start to sleep better from the off.
I will explain to you what is happening in your brain and how we should be able to tackle it. It will involve deep relaxation and some positive thinking. All this will help immensely to start you on the right track for recovery from your current episode. We will be able to start to close pain gates in your brain allowing you to get on with life. I have had some really great successes with fibromyalgia.
