Solution focused Therapy has been developed over many years by David Newton, founder of the Clifton House Practice. It is constantly reviewed, updated and adapted so that the practice evolves alongside an ever increasing wealth of scientific knowledge. The use of the word ‘hypnotherapy’ belies the fact that it is a very modern approach to mental health, based on current world wide scientific research.
It takes the best from Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Solution focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and forms Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). The training for Practitioners in SFT is considered to be the gold standard, and the qualification obtained, Hpynotherapy Practitioners Diploma (HPD) is only awarded to 20% of all practising Hypnotherapists.
By combining positive thinking with deep relaxation methods a SFT Practitioner is able to get a client to re-learn how they think. Getting rid of stress completely, and creating the correct chemicals within the brain to help us feel good and relaxed. This is how we should be feeling day to day, and once the Client has been taught how to use this method, they will be able to continue to practice this on their own long after the therapy has finished. In fact for the rest of their lives.
